Remove Garage Roller Door

Take out the bottom one only when the top one is well inserted and held firmly in your hand.

Remove garage roller door.

When it won t move at all you ll know it s in place 2 x research. Release the cables and then take off the clamps or locking pliers. Use the 3 8 inch wrench to remove these. With a helper or two supporting the top of the top panel remove the roller bracket at each end of the panel.

Slide the end of a flathead screwdriver underneath the top roller and pry it out from the track. Locking pliers are small handheld vice grips. In case your garage door is made of steel then the hinges would be secured with hex headed screws. Replacing the bottom roller on a garage door can be extremely dangerous when done incorrectly.

Remove the bolts only on the top half of each hinge leaving the bottom halves attached to the lower door panel. Carefully tilt the panel back and lift it away from the tracks and the rest of the door. You ll need to deal with the lifting mechanisms before you can remove the door 1 x research sourcestep 2 use locking pliers to lock the door in place. Slide a new roller in and insert the roller back into the track. Climb a ladder so you can easily access the top roller while your garage door is open. Roll the door down to the next roller and repeat the same process for removing and replacing the rollers. Pick up 2 of them from the home improvement store. Never loosen the bolts that secure the bottom fixture to the garage door or remove the cable from the bottom fixture. Support the garage door above you with your non dominant hand.

After removing the nuts use a hammer to knock out the bolts. As you pop the roller out of the track the garage door will drop. Raise your old door. Repeat the same steps on the second spring if need be.

Use their jaws to secure the bottom of the door to the roller track then try to move the door. Uninstall a garage door. When you have replaced the bottom 4 rollers you ll realize that you won t be able to replace the top one because it won t line up with the opening in the track.
