This was my first hardware project and instructable ever and i m sure.

My garage door remote uses the cr2032 battery which is 3 3v and coincidentally the raspberry pi also has a 3v terminal which is right next to the 5v plug.

The relay should be wired in the normally open position so that when activated the circuit will close and the garage door will open close.
I wasn t willing to kill my only remote.
Same kind of setup but using an extra wireless remote.
